Current Assignments
The week of 5/22, the drama class will finish auditions and be assigned their parts. They will have a part in one of three plays. The rest of the week they will work on these plays. The students will work on learning their lines and cues. Each student is to help with some props, minor sets, and simple costume pieces.
The week of 5/15, the drama class will review Audience Etiquette and take a small quiz. They will then start reading three short plays that we will be putting on. On Friday they will be able audition for the parts they would like.
The week of 5/8, the drama class will start working on partner pantomimes and a lesson on proper Audience Etiquette.
The week of 5/1, the drama class will be at Camp. When they return we will start working on partner pantomimes.
The week of 4/24, the drama class will be working on Dramatic Voice. They will be performing a selection of their choice in a very dramatic style. This is basically acting out a selected reading with voice only. Later in the week we will begin a unit on Basic Stage Terminology.
The week of 4/10, the drama class will be working on pantomimes. They will present them on Wed. They will also start a unit on Drama Terminology that is used during a play.
The week of 4/3, the period 6 class will be finishing their introductions, learning new drama terms, and starting a project on individual pantomime. They will have a Introduction to Drama test on Friday, 4/7.
The week of 3/27, the 7/8 gr. class will only have 3 days of class. Dragon Trouble will perform on Mon. 3/27. Then on Tues. and Wed. the class will learn a little about Theatre history and play drama games.
On Thurs. & Fri. I will have a new class of 6th graders in drama. We will start by going over the rules and how I grade. They will get a syllabus that needs to be signed and returned on Friday, March 31st. Their homework will also be to find creative and dramatic ways to introduce themselves.
The week of 3/20, the students will be practicing their parts in the skits they are in. They will also view a presentation on the Stage. They have a rubric and are to make a poster of the stage for Mon. 3/27. 12 Angry Pigs will perform on Friday, 3/24 and Dragon Trouble will perform on Mon. 3/27.
The week of 3/13, the students will be working on rehearsing their skits. They should memorize their lines this week! On Thursday and Friday we will be learning about the stage. They will then start a project with a rubric I give them to illustrate a Stage with all it's different areas.
The week of 3/6, we will finish auditions for our two skits. On Tues. the students will learn which part they have and be given their scripts. For the rest of the week the class will work on their skits, learning their lines, creating blocking, and deciding on simple costumes and props.
The week of 2/20, we will be working on Partner Pantomimes. Then on Thurs. and Fri. they will perform them for a grade. Students should take time at home to run through their part of the pantomime.
The week of 2/13- the drama class will be learning about Drama Terminology. They will be taking notes on this. We will also be playing some drama game in order to make them more aware of a cast working together as a week.
On Thurs. 2/16, they will take a test on Drama Terminology. They should study on Wed. Night! After the test we will begin learning about Partner Pantomimes.
The week of 2/6-2/10, the students will be working on Dramatic voice. They are to pick a poem or section of a speech or text. We will practice reading it smoothly with projection and a dramatic voice to make it come alive. The students will be presenting this on Wed. and Thurs. Then on Friday they will start learning some more Drama terms that will help them understand plays, scripts, and performances.
This week the students will be working on their individual pantomimes. They are to practice at home to be ready to work on Monday. Later in the week they will begin a new unit on Basic drama terminology.
Thurs. 1/19- get syllabus signed. Think of a way to introduce yourself that is unique.
Friday. 1/20- Think of a unique way to introduce someone else.
